The 2002 is one of BMW's most famous automobile models. A two-door sedan based on the four-door 1600, it cemented the company's reputation for compact sporting sedans. The 2002 was the forerunner of the BMW 3 Series and an inspiration for the new 1 Series Coupe. It was produced from 1968 to 1976.
The BMW M5 is an ultra performance version of the BMW 5-Series automobile made by BMW Motorsport. First introduced at the Amsterdam Motor Show in 1984, the M5 has been made from various 5-Series versions throughout the years, including the E28, E34, E39 and most recently the E60. Originally, the M5 was hand-built utilizing the 535i chassis and a modified BMW M1 engine. When introduced, it was the fastest production sedan in the world.
The BMW 635 CSi E24 automobile platform was the basis for the first production of BMW 6 Series coupé, produced by the German automaker BMW between the 1976 and 1989 model years. Replaced by the E31 chassis 8 Series coupés, the 6 Series name reappeared with the BMW E63 chassis beginning in the 2004 model year. The E24 borrowed heavily from contemporary 5-series cars (E12, later E28).
